I'm a fan of Dorothy L. Sayers's Lord Peter Wimsey novels and J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, and one of my newer hobbies has been encouraging people who are fond of one to take a look at the other (or, in some cases, to introduce both authors to the hapless victim interested party).
During March and April 2007, I taught a six-week seminar on Sayers and Rowling for Retirement Learning at Vanderbilt. These are the handouts I pulled together for the class. (Caveat: they may not make much sense on their own, but I'm posting them both for the students who missed a session and for some friends who've been discussing Sayers and Rowling with me elsewhere).
At Lumos 2006, I presented a poster on Sayers and Rowling; my notes for the conference proceedings are here.
